Ot: Prayers please!!!

I have your Dad in my prayers!
The initial shock of the diagnosis is the worst. Three years ago I had acute leukemia. My best advice is to learn as much as you can about the disease. Encourage the doctors not to sugarcoat anything.
I was given a 25% chance of survival. The way I managed, is to think that if someone offered me a lottery ticket with a 25% chance of winning, I would buy that ticket!
In my case the treatment seemed worse than the disease. It is simply amazing what modern medicine can do. I had a stem cell transplant, and that has apparently cured me.
I never turned down any offers of prayers.

I just got home from the hospital. He has been moved to the medical ICU at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC. He has been there since Tuesday. They have him on dialysis(sp?) 24 hours a day. They started that last night. They were finally able to biopsy his liver today and we should get prilimanary results by 1:00 on Friday. The doctors at Columbia have said his liver is spotted, but no mention of a mass in the liver. In the mean time today before I got to the hospital some punk tried to steal my moms purse while she was back sitting with my dad. She had left it with my aunt. Our family had a phone call so my aunt got up to answer it and this punk picked up the purse and tried to get away. Another family saw it and stopped him and wouldn't let him close the doors to the elevator. The police got him and arrested him. It was probably a good thing I wasn't there because I would have loved to have taken a little frustration out. The only problem is I would have been taken away instead of him.

Thanks to eveyone for the prayers. Please continue to pray for us as my dad passed away today at about 2:00 pm. The biopsy came back as a tumor and it was cancer and it was not just in the liver. He wanted to be unhooked from all the machines and IV's. He was at peace when he left us. He said he knew his relationship with the LORD was in good shape and he was ready to rest.
