Finished Trans Job Today!

Since the weather is getting *a little* nicer here in the Northeast I decided I'd better get morning on replacing my blown E4OD in my 96 F250. Started the job early Friday morning with a buddy and just finished this A.M. (Sat). The job wasn't horrible, but man, is that trans heavy! I lucked out on this though, since I was able to find both a good running 5.8 coupled with the E4OD on Craigslist for a hundred bucks! The only difference between my trans and the replacement trans is that the transfer case has a flange insted of a spline, so we just kept my old transfer case. Anyone know why that'd be different? So now as far as extra parts go I have...a good ruuning 5.8, an extra xfer case, a blown E4OD which I'll rebuild. All in all, a good learning experience. Any suggestions as to handle the replacement tranny? I did not replace or change any fliud whatsoever because it had a healthy color/smell and I don't want to upset anything. Would anyone recommend a filter/fluid change? For what its worth, my old trans had 225k on it and this one has 110k on it, thanks in advance for any input!

Rule of thumb isw when they get old is to not change the fluid if it's looking good. I dont know if your truck has one . but a trans cooler helps keep autos alive. they just generate alot of heat .

Bronco transfer cases used a flange for the rear drive shaft.

$100 is a steal for a good 351, E4OD, and T-case with 110,000 miles! My motor is in great shape and I have no need for another one (much less an E4OD) but I would have bought that setup for $100 in a heartbeat.
