Another ? about 3 on tree

I got the trans apart and the only thing I found broke was the speedo cable gear. Does anyone have a pic of how the gears and bearings are suspose to be? There were two shims ? that fell out and dont know much about trans. I am a beginer. Also I want to replace the U-Joints. Should I be able to get them out without press? Thank You

Go to youtube, there is at least 5 or 10 vidieo's on U-joint replacement. I replaced all three of mine and you don't need a press, just a good sturdy vice.

Did you take the whole trans apart? I kind of assume so if shims fell out. Here is a good exploded view

Not your exact year but differences are minor.

If you didn't take out all the gears, just the tailhousing, then I'd assume the shims are for the rear bearing. Give us more detail or some pics, it would help a lot.

Thanks so much guys. Like I said Im a beginner and everyone has been so helpful. The picture is exactly what I needed. After getting the whole trans off my problem is in the clutch. The prssure plate and clutch are broken. Does anyone know where the best place to get clutch kit? The cheapest I have found is $190+ ship. Thanks again.
