Yeah. I can bring a tranny jack. I also have a gear puller and a jaw puller I'll toss in the bed. We'll probably need a BFH too.....just to be sure.

I read we might need a set of feeler gauges and a dial indicator. I don't have either of those!!

How about those details? Location and planned start time. I have to drive a few hours and want to get my trip planned out ahead of time.

What kind of dial indicator do you need? I have one on a magnet base if that's the kind you need. My wife is working on Sat so I'll be on young'n wrangin' duty that day, but I'm just over here in Conway and I could swing by with the thing if you need it.

Well guys I am sorry to do this but we are gonna have to cancel this weekend. The weather is going to be really cold and we are up to a 60% chance of rain. This really sucks to have to do this. I greatly appreciate everyone for offering to help with this. I will keep an eye on the weather and maybe in 2 weeks we can plan again. I am going to order another part for the tranny anyways. Once again guys I am so sorry to cancel, I wish we were having better weather.

No problem, things happen. I will get to bump my Sunday project to Saturday. Should have my steering gear box and tie rods back from the blaster. Hope to also get my 3rd member bolted up and hung back in place. Would be a blast to throw the wheels back on my frame and roll it out of the shop for some pics. Check out this link. Might need to throw a wrench party myself sometime.

drof, you have a great looking truck in progress. I can't wait to see it when it is done. I would love to find myself a 351C or a 351W to swap. Definatly keep the pics going! Count me in if you ever throw a party!

Mudder and cookie,

Thanks for the comments. The one thing on my build that continues to run through my head is getting the old metal to the new frame without tearing it up. Taking the old stuff off was no problem. I plan to lift the front clip and cab as a solid unit however. I may need to remove the power steering gear box I put back on this weekend. Then its a matter of jacking it up just high enough to remove the old frame and wheel in the new. Sure would be nice to have access to a 2 post automotive lift. I may end up having to take the front clip off, but I sure would like to avoid that so the body lines are undistrubed. I'll need to make it down for the march GTG and meet you guys and talk trucks and get some ideas.

Saturday 02/21/09
Gas tank inspeced, painted, and placed back in frame Check
Tie rods/steering gear box bolted up and semi aligned Check
Rear end axels and backer plates installed Check
Good weekend so far Check

Now I'm outa parts so Sunday may be spend rounding up all the tools and organizing them back in the tool box. I have a lot of time wasted chasing down the right tool.

That is great drof, can't wait to see your truck!! I love looking at all those parts you had powder coated, makes me drool! lol

I started working on Mater yesterday. I wanted to get something done out of this weekend. I started putting in the new steering system, but did run into a snag. I have to get a pitman arm off a 78-79 f150 4x4 to bolt everything up. So I am off to the salvage yard today. I will see if I can get the body bushings done as well. Next weekend is looking to be pretty nice, does anyone want to try to rebuild a tranny?

Well this weekend will probably be out for doing the tranny unless we do it here at my house. I need to find a pitman arm now, gotta love those little differences in the years.
