One more thing I can tell you about the preserve - no shooting. You can hunt any legal game/non-game, but you cannot shoot recreationally within the preserve.

 

and i am guessing that you have to have a permit to hunt?

 

You need a hunting license, and whatever other F&G requirements that would normally apply. There is nothing special required from the NPS.

This thread is just a few days over 3 years old since the last post. The outing never happened, unless the OP went on his own. I don't think any other members joined him.

 

Thanks for pointing out that it is 3 years old. I did not pay attention to that. I still think all those different mines and places to see would make for a good trip. I subsrcibed to it so I can find it and maybe take the kids and do it. I do not get out much (work alot) so finding places to go to in the wilderness I am not the best at. I attempt to drive on roads (not so used/driven paths) to see the snow and the mountains and the beauty that is out there. I usally end up on someones property (what-a-hassel). But this post kinda of laid it out with things.

 

Damn I love that stuff! Wish I could go but I need every weekend to finish Joelle's truck. I am also saving this thread for future reference/planning

Totally missed this back in 2012 I come here from time to time to see whats up. I went on that trip and it was pretty dang great
