Cab mounted gas tank

Cab mounted gas tank
For various reasons, I'm keeping my cab mounted gas tank in my F1. I want to change the fuel pickup from the bottom to the top of the tank, and install a rollover valve/vent so I can run a non vented cap. Sac Vintage Ford makes a gas gauge sending unit that has a fuel pick up in it, but not in my ohm rating. Any one done this already? Pictures would be great.

Don’t do it, step away from that gas tank, and assume the position!
If you are concerned about a rollover valve with the tank behind the seat (and you should be) then you aware of the risks. Tanks behind the seat stink (literally), slosh, take up room, and make your stereo sound like a bath tub.
Just my opinion.

I kept mine behind the seat in my 48. I am using a non-vented cap but not a rollover valve. When I had my tank cleaned and sealed I had a small piece of copper tubing added as a vent, attached a hose to it and and ran it through the cab floor. This allow the vapors to escape under the truck instead of inside and around the cap. I've been very happy with this arrangement. Sacramento Ford has an adapter which allows you to bolt in an aftermarket fuel sending unit. I used a matching gas gauge...

well, there's about as much metal between the running board and the tank as there is with a pinto...To each his own...I plan on drivin mine alot, its all apart so repositioning the tank will be easy for my build..., ...Oh! at least in a pinto, i won't fry my backside!...
