Howdy fellas, I just realized there was a Montana chapter today after being in FTE for a couple of years now. I know, I'm a little slow, but I never realized they had state chapters in FTE until today. Anyway I just joined (better late than never). and I'm in Billings. I hope to contribute a lot to this chapter.

Hey welcome madsonp, the MT chapter was formerly the High Plains chapter.

Now all of the states of the HP have their own forum and most are quite active.

You interested in being the chapter leader?

Need someone willing to make an effort to revive the MT peeps and get some activity going.

I'm interested! I'm a huge fan of VW's and was a founding member of BigSkyVW.com

I'd love to do something similar with Fords!

Great Matt, and I'm willing to help YOU find that leader.

Did you look at the guidelines?

Not that hard of a job to be the Chapter Leader. Think about it.

What exactly are the guidelines?
I'm still really interested I've just been busying trying to find work lately.
I've got a lot of experience with building a local club because I'm a huge part of BigSkyVW.com
We're a MT based club who just hit 192 members.
I know here in Bozeman alone there are tons of modded fords who might be interested.
Point me to the guidelines!

Stoney you sound like the man for the job to me.

There's plenty of us chapter leaders that didn't have that kind of experience when we took over. You would be perfect for the job.

Sorry for being negative... again.. but as having been the CL for High Plains for as long as I was, I told folks long ago, that the Drifters was too big an area. No luck getting changes made, for whatever reason Ken had in keeping the HPD so huge for as long as he did.

From what I've read tonight, it looks like there's some agreement that the state is just too danged big to have only one chapter here. Now, the Bozeman and Billings folks who've posted are close enough to have some good get togethers. But, I'll be danged if I can afford to drive from early morning until dark, to get down there for any kind of meeting.

I will stand, until I drop, that Montana needs 4 chapters or more, to generate any kind of decent interest. And most of you know that the money situation here, isn't that great for most of us old timers, without college degrees or health good enough to be able to work and buy all the cool stuff needed to make a fancy truck worth driving across the state and "showing off" in a G2G or any kind of showing.

I'd say, give the chapter a chance as it stands, but admin need... NEED... to consider dividing it into more chapters and even at that, I feel there'll be little interest. And that's for numerous reasons.... not just money, gas, travel. Montanan's are known to be independent cusses. Joining groups that affect their life is one thing. But joining clubs isn't on everyone's high priority list. I'd love to see all of the members prove me wrong.

I guess there was just too little participation before this. I can't see it going hog wild unless changes continue to be made, in the number of chapters. And NO, at this point, I have too much on my own plate, to deal with being involved again. If my life suddenly improves... which I doubt will happen soon.... then I'll reconsider.

I'll bring up the fact that we need more chapters. Getting CL's to step up will be a big deal though.

More later...
