Found the NSN for a 65 F-100 in FedLog
While farting around in FedLog today I found the NSN to a 1965 Ford F-100 6 cylinder 3 speed manual Dana 44 truck. It is 2320-00-965-0640 in case you want to know. Originally cost $4169.00 for all the services. And here is the other part # it is known by, MILT45338TYPE4CLASSA.

Yes, National Stock Number. It was how those trucks were ordered and tracked way back when for some of you or well before my time. They still use NSN's to order parts for every thing these days as well. The NSN tells who, where, how much, what to ship it in, who controls the item and so on.
Anyone want the 6 NSN's for beer? It litterally was a white 12 oz can with black letters spelling out "BEER". Been a few years since I had to order any so it may have changed. I am looking at them now to see who is making it. Coors Lager, Schaeffer Brew, Budwieser, Utica Club Pilsenser, Coors, and Texas Select Malt. The last one has a alc % of .09 per 7 oz. I guess it is better then nothing.

I think it was called Billy Beer also,,,, after billy carter idiot brother of, well you know.
And the NSN,,,,, WOW that took me back, was a mechanic and we had to order all the parts with NSN's and our MIMS clerk, I bribed her to keep her writing up the forms, what a ROYAL PIA, and yes, you could look up anything, I once ordered, or TRIED to order a Box, communications, yadda, yadda, it was 5.2 mil, and only ONE number off of an airpack we used on the 5 tons... yeah, it got caught and I got "scolded" the government is SO efficient...

1965 F100 Styleside 8' Pickup w/a Standard Cab.
AM radio, deluxe heater, 352, Warner 3 speed overdrive, Dana 44 Limited Slip rear end, dealer installed A/C, and step bumper: $2300.00 out the door.
$2300.00: That was at dealer invoice + $100.00.
A bare bones 8' Styleside Standard Cab 6 banger with zero accessories was $1961.00 FOB Detroit.
Where the $4100.00 figure came from I dunno.
For that amount, someone coulda bought a loaded V8 Ranger with all the available accessories back then...and....had money left over.

Yep, funny thing about the stupid government and it's contractors, when ordering quick-disconnects for hydraulic lines, the male connector was something like $15, the female one was like $65, AND you had to order them as a set! If you tried to order just a male it would get sent back..... gotta pay the mark-up! And they are STILL ripping us off!

This is how I know my NSN. My truck still had the plate with the info on it. The DSO code from the warranty plate also indicated a government purchase, as decoded by the fine gentlemen on here. Unfortunately, I haven't had more time to try to dig further into it. Ford doesn't have the records of the DSOs they received for older than '66 I believe. If you don't have access to FedLog, WEBFLIS, or something like that, you'd have a very hard time researching any NSN or what it means. I'll be trying to dig up some info on FedLog next chance I get. All I know is mine was bought by "the man" and was most likely green. Hopefully the NSN will still pop up in the system and give me some insight into some more of the original specs. Good luck with finding out the history of your ride. I love knowing that kind of stuff about mine.

Those numbers are prices are the values the military assigns to them. Not realistic 15 cent pens on GSA using the NSN cost 1 dollar. If your a supply guy see if you can order one maybe there is a gem sitting in a bunker some where that's if you can get it pass your DIV O. I know my trucks was a state water truck that went to auction about a year ago so you never know?
