Its not about the companies in the end, but all the votes those autoworkers represent to a certain political party.

I've been invested in ford for years with every new ford I buy. GM and chrysler would have been broke long ago if left up to my suport of thier products.

The problems started YEARS ago. The ONLY reason that everything has "come to a head " now is because its the last chance certain crooks still in power will have for a long long time to get their hands on our money and do their crooked deals. Its easy to see. It reminds me of a low life renter being evicted and then he steals the copper pipes and kitchen cabinets before he goes.Like rats jumping ship but pissin in the cheeze since they cant take it with them at the last second before they do. LOL

I believe it's came to a head because of 4.50$ a gallon gas and a credit crunch. Then throw in a tanking economy to boot. Even the japanese auto makers are feeling it. With the dems in power, it sure won't be the end of hand outs, thats there trade mark. The lines are just now forming. My garden didn't do so well last summer, I'm thinking about getting in line myself hee hee.

My dad is a ford retiree and he's on medacare and has to go to the VA. We don't see where the healthcare benifits are all that great for retiree's, we must be missing something. His pension is a whole 600.00$ a month, plus 800.00$ from SS for a wooping 1,400.00$ total. He retired back in 83, I sure it's better now. His perscriptions were running 140.00$ - 200.00$ a month, he went to the VA nad now gets them for 20.00$ a month. I guess it's a good thing he fought in Korea. Before he went with the VA, he was getting doctor bills, hospital bills, bills for test. My wife is a school janitor, I'm covered by her. We pay nothing except 5.00$ for perscriptions and a 10.00$ co-pay for doctor visits and thats it, no hospital, no test, no emergency room. So if a janitor has better insurance than a ford retiree, how good is it really? I hope the retiree's get off better now, cause my pops sure isn't breaking ford up. Besides the union took over paying some of that stuff. I'm not saying that all this paying out isn't part of fords problem, I'm saying it isn't as good as you think unless it's improved a heck of a lot since 83.

I don't agree but somewhat understand why we might want th assist GM. However, I don't agree with helping Chrysler at all. They are a privately owned firm and the company that owns them has adequate assets to assist them on their own if they wish. If they don't have enough confidence to help their own company, why should we?
