92' F150 4x4 problems
i have a 92' f150 with 302 V8---
my 4x4 will not engage, when you pull the lever back you can hear the transfer case click into gear, but the front wheels won't spin. i have a warn manual hub kit, would putting this on fix my problem?
i need to get this fixed! i had to get pulled out by a 4 cylinder jeep!!

Do you have the auto hubs on the front end? Also, did you check underneath the truck to make sure that the front drive shaft was spinning when the rear drive shaft is spinning? If the drive shaft spins but the front wheels are auto hubs and didnt engage then yea the hubs need replaced. Also, the auto hubs will engage when the driveshaft spins, but if you are already stuck when you decide to turn on the 4x4 you will spin the hubs out eventually.

i will check this weekend... it is my buddys truck... he said the 4x4 lights come on when he puts it in 4 wheel (both high and low)
so can any one elaborate on how to check this...
if his front drive shaft spins when he is in 4 wheel the hubs are shot?
if his front drive shaft doesn't spin in 4 wheel there is a problem with the transfer case...
he has had problems in the part where under torque (climbing a hill or somthing) it would "pop out" of 4x4... could this be his hubs going out? cause it has gradually gotten worse and worse over the last year...

Conanski had a very good post on this a couple of days ago.
Basically he said if you put the truck in 4wd with front hubs unlocked you should not be able to turn the front driveshaft. If you can then your transfer case is bad. With truck in 2wd and hubs LOCKED again you should not be able to turn the front driveshaft. If you can then something in the front axle is bad. Unfortunately with auto hubs you will not be able to do the second test.
However do the first and if OK then it is a good bet the auto hubs are bad.
Good luck.
