does anyone know where the block heater cord is on a 06 f150 5.4

I have an 04 and mine is behind my drivers side tow hook. I bought the truck used and thats where it was anyway. Hopefully that helps you.

Do all f 150 models have the heater or is it an option?

The window sticker that came with my truck says it is optional equipment. I suppose it doesn't make sense to have a block heater on a truck that will never see weather below the freezing mark.

i never bothered to check to see if mine has a block heater and its been -35 below fires right up

check around in behind front licence plate; might be strapped in if never used.
Standard equipment on most trucks sold in Canada. Not really necessary for starting, but if it is snowing or freezing rain in the morning, it gives you defrost in a much shorter time than having to wait for a full warm up from cold.
It only needs to be plugged in for an hour or two, so a timer in the garage is a good idea...use mine most mornings Dec.-Feb. It comes on at 6am and by 7:30 is ready to go.
