Fan clutch Question

Fan clutch question! Has anyone had to replace the fan clutch pulley? My fan clutch seems to be in good condition but when I take the belt off the pulley is making a lot of noise like the bearings in it are shot.
Thanks, Chris

The pulley is mounted to the water pump. If the noise is coming from the pump it should be changed. Pump bearings may suddenly go bad letting the fan go into the radiator...not good! Are you loosing coolant?

If the bearing are shot the impeller on the water pump can come in contact with the engine block. It did on my 97 when I took it off there was some deep grooves worn in the block.
