I'm sold on diesel. It is just a well built engine. Everthing is heavy duty, I love the growl of my engine, and push come to shove, I can MAKE my own fuel. Gas engines are built to be quiet and break, diesel engines are made to WORK.

As far as getting a Chevy or GMC, I'm suspicious of their diesels. The old ones are poorly built. Ford has a solid reputation with diesels. The Cummins is a great engine, but I have doubts about the rest of the Dodge.....

What would get better fuel economy, the 6.o or the 7.3?

I think the 7.3 can get better fuel econmy, because of the emissions equipment on the 6.0. get a program and eliminating the emissions you may be able to get better fuel economy.
