5.4 stalling when stuck

hi guys wanted to know if anyone who has a 04 superduty was stalling when using it in 4wd? got stuck awhile ago and it stalled a half dozen times in high range after stomping on the gas to get out. when put in low it gat better but did it still. I just got 4.30 gears and a rear detroit truetract put in the rear axle and rabbit hunting saturday almsot got stuck again in a freshly plowed field trying to get to my secret spot, in high the truck was completely different animal, never stalled and had power to spin all four tires. in low range it pulled itself out very easily but after a quick shift to reverse to rock it one last time it stalled again. fired right back up and it drove out, when i left i left the truck in low and just mashed it through the field no problems. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be im running 285/75r16 tires

Could be the IAC not holding the idle.

Auto or manual? If auto, how were your trans temps?

Idle Air Controller, it allows air to bypass the throttle body so the engine can idle. Any odd noises or excessive water splashing up on the engine?

no no odd noises but the truck does start funny sometimes. idles high like its suppose but then drops down to almost stalling and goes right back up. Could that be that IAC thing yous are talking about? And no no water splashing i use my truck but i don't beat the snot out of it on or off road thats what my 79 bronco is for!

Definitely sounds like it's time for an IAC. Make sure the ports in the throttle body are clear if it's high-mileage.

I agree, pull the throttle body and give the back side a good cleaning, while it's off, take the plenum and IAC off. (I thought it was easier to get to with the plenum off).
