Engine Conversion F350 4WD V10 Triton / 460 with carb
Dear All!
My name is Ingo and I am from Germany. I have a question regarding my F350 and I need your help.
I have a 2003 Ford F 350 Super Duty 4WD Dually with a V10 Triton gasoline engine and automatic transmission.
Because I am not satisfied with this engine, I want to install a modified 460 engine with carburator. I know that this plan is very strange, but I want to realize this project. If there is a way to realize it, I will do it.
The biggest problem now is to clarify if the engine will suit in the car and what we have to do for mounting the engine and to connect the OEM transmission. Can we use the original mounting and will the transmission match to the 460 engine or have we to buy a suitable transmission or adapter?
Regarding the computer and exhaust we will not worry (at the moment). Do you know if the engine and the OEM transmisssion can ben connected?
I am looking forward to hearing from you and many thanks for your help in advance.
Best regards,
Ingo

The engine computer also controls the the transmission... this is one of the many problems you will have to deal with sooner or later. There are a lot of pople that think they can get better performance from carbuated engines, but it's most often cheaper and easier to supercharge/turbocharge the existing powertrain.

Hi!
I understand that there will be problems with the computer and the OEM transmission.
I think the best way is to change the engine and the transmission also. If we install a 460 with a C6 transmission 4WD the electronic problems would be deleted.
Installing the engine and the tranny regarding mounting should be no problem.
What do you think?
Best regards,
ingo
