We call my '55 "the 55", oddly enough. never been one to name vehicles or call them he or she. Maybe "BLACK ICE", or "OVERBLACK". naaa. "the 55" is fine.
Of the three ford trucks in my driveway, My sons 92 Ranger has been nicknamed by his friends the "Danger Ranger". My very well aged 81 F100 with original green paint that is fading to rust brown has been labled "The Beast" and my recently aquired 54 F100 is simply "The Old One"
We call my '54 "old Betsy". My son was about 5 or 6. I was trying to start the truck and was cranking and cranking and it wouldn't start. This was before the truck went to the body shop and before I rebuilt the starter and the generator and put new cables on. My son patted his little hand on the stock bench seat and "Come on Old Betsy," trying to urge the old truck to start. He got this from a Disney book we used to read to him about a race between Goofy and Donald Duck. Donald had a new sports car and Goofy had an old jalopy he called Bessie. Of course Goofy and Old Bessie won the race. So my son pronounced Bessie like Betsy and the name stuck!
