Really wanna move into an F150 from my Tundra
Here's my post over at TS:
I really do wanna do this. Can I get an idea of how much, say, an F150 FX4 is going for OTD? I need to figure out if it's financially worth it. I would like the nice sound system but leather is not key. SCrew or SCab, doesn't matter - preferably the SCrew. Heck, tell me a fully loaded one, one in between, and a base FX4 and I should be good.
I will talk to some dealerships tomorrow but also want some opinions online.
I'd be trading in that Tundra with 20,000 miles. Ranch Hand, Borla catback, and BFG AT T/A KOs with abotu 7,000 miles. How much would that go for?

If we can do an even trade, or actually make money on it, I'm thinking about moving to an F150.
This truck just doesn't seem so hot. Bushings, leafs, dash, thin paint/thin sheetmetal, warped front rotors, and overall piece of cr*pness of the truck just isn't cutting it for me.
The only things I like about the truck is the Borla exhaust, the Ranch Hand, and the tires (and you can beat that there will be a RH on my next truck as the first thing I do). Also, chicks seem to like it which is cool but I honestly doubt it b/c it's a Toyota. I think girls down here like any truck that's got some ***** to it.
Anyway, I'm thinking about moving to an F150. My current problems with my truck are bushings, rotors, and my dash doesn't line up at all and squeeks. Also, did you know you can tap the bumper and make it shimmy? Pretty sad.
Someone, keep me around. It'd possibly be around Thanksgiving time if it were to happen. So, if that's the case - anybody want a Ranch Hand for cheap? Same with the Borla? (Jk unless I do sell my truck in which case I'll keep it updated).
Would I get my bread buttered (think Supertroopers)? Current rates on the '08 F150? Power is no longer "cool" for me and I just want a truck that's actually well built. I talked to my bro about it today and he new instantly this truck was a piece compared to his '03 4runner and I completely agree.
Comments? Any reason for me to stay with my truck? I think with these problems after 20K miles, what's going to happen when I'm out of warranty? These have to be expensive - so any Toyota techs, please chime in with WHY it would be more beneficial to stay with a truck that' been a piece so far?
Oh, and my dash is sinking on the right side (common problem) but it's also not really lining up by my change holder (ashtray) where it meets the black portion of the dash. And I got a squeek by pushing on the silver part under my speedo.

Though it has less power I think you'll be pleased overall. The 2004 - 2008 F150 is a solid truck. The only major complaint about them is the spark plugs sticking/breaking when removing them, and you need to follow a procedure to avoid this. Get a truck built after Nov 2007 and that's no longer an issue (redesigned heads use different plugs). Don't know if you've driven the F150 yet, but the ride quality, especially on roads with "bumps" is far superior to the Tundra and its frame oscilation problems.
Get an aftermarket tuner to make it a little peppier and I don't think you'll miss the Tundra at all, especially if you plan to keep this truck a long tim.

Thanks ken. I test drove an F150 in July before the April I bought my truck. I loved it then and I still love it. It's a very solid vehicle and it may not have the pep of the Tundra, but it feels well built.
Our '98 Expedition had 150K miles when traded and it was squeak and rattle free.

Honestly, you would have to go and drive one and see what the numbers look like from the stealership. The 5.4 is not going to compete with that 5.7 and the trans wont be as smooth other than that I think you will be happy with the Ford.
I would bet you could do a very nice deal on a screw with nice options. My advice to you is be patient that tundra wont blow up on you. When I was trying to get rid of my Titan I had almost the same exact problems you have and I was a bit impatient and prob could have worked a better deal. Good luck.
