john,

Good article, this is a must read! It could use some picture examples of problem areas.
I have some if needed.

Let's face it - What makes it work is that folks care enough to dedicate some time to share the wealth. There is a lot of wisdom hidden in the recesses of a lot of knuckleheads in this Forum.

I never saw a Forum that was so free of jerks. Maybe because a lot of us are long in the tooth but there are a lot of young folks as well. I think the Ford Truck is special. We are pretty nice to each other for the most part. Lots of good ol Americana to share. Well, that's what I think anyway.

Fantastic article John!

What most newbies will soon learn, and most old timers appreciate, is that FTE is the "Library of Congress" as a collection of knowledge on the restoration of Ford trucks. The people here, what the know, and how they learned it, comprise the last corporate knowledge there is ever going to be on the subject - forever.

Enjoy and participate - often, if not daily.

To ask is to learn - to learn is to know - to know is to be informed - the informed teach - and those who teach learn more again.

Newbies, juniors, seniors, guru's, on up - Share and enjoy

Fair enough. 6V aint that bad. Guy here in town used a 51 250 as a daily driver till 3 years ago. Never changed her over. Started when it was -30 if it was pluged in. I will agree though for daily use 12V is the way to go.

Just takin' a break. There's so many guys on here now with great information I don't need to say much anymore. That's a good thing!

I found a NEW Home

WOW, i just found this little place last night about 8 pm, stayed here till about 4am. I now consider myself almost educated about the world of the F1, a long way from done yet tho. I've been trying to find a decent 48-50 f-1 for a while, I've collected a few parts (bare cab, frame, fresh covered seat and bed). I wish I had found this site first. I have already made a few mistakes. The brighter side is I found a 52 last weekend with a great body, its been in a garage for the last 16 years. The body is great but when the hood came up I'm sad to say the flat head was gone and a 66 vette 327 power glide was in its place. The only reason to bring it home was the body was better than anything I've seen for three times the money. The 327 has to go but for now it will have to do. Anyway, thanks for a GREAT place for me to spend time and learn from your mistakes. I'm sure I'll still make plenty of my own but at least I know I'm not alone. Thanks for all the help in advance.( i MADE A LOT OF COPIES FOR THE SHOP BOOKS TOO)

Welcome to FTE. You should not have any trouble selling the 66 'Vette engine to a Chevy guy. Good luck on your truck!

Where are you located? If you are anywhere near Littleton, NH, I have a flathead V8 I'd sell.

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome GreatNorthWoods. Yea, I hope I can find one of those chevy people that might need the 327. I appreciate the offer on the flathead but it's a little too far for a weekend drive. I'm way down in South Carolina. I have a lead on a good running flatttie about to come out of another '52.

49,

you'll probably get more response if you post a seperate thread with a good title like 'need help with 49 wiring harness.." it's just hidden from most folks in this thread
gud luck
