Stopping Torque Converter Lock-up

Which wire (and where would I find it) do you put the switch in to accomplish this?

Purple wire with a yellow stripe, you will find it on top of the driver side plastic inner fender.

Why would you want to do this? Your transmission is not designed to handle the additional heat generated by a torque converter that doesn't lock up. You will probably fry the tranny within a few thousand miles. Also, the PCM will notice that the converter isn't locked and it will put the tranny into limp mode. It will shift like a jackhammer until you reset the PCM, and then it will do it all over again.

File this one under really dumb ideas.

Good point andym, I wasn't under the impression MiracleMax wanted to stop it from locking up permanently. Only for test reasons based on his older thread.

It is also bad if you lock it manually and keep it locked all the time, while shifting up and down the computer unlocks that clutch just briefly to soften them shifts.

If this is for testing I'd also connect a small LED light to the computer side so you can watch what the computer is doing at any given time.

I haven't seen his other posts, so I wasn't aware of any other problems he was having. This is why forums have threads.

Thanks guys. Yes it is for testing purposes. Trying to find out if the TC is generating the vibration I'm experiencing.

Just rest your foot lightly on the brake pedal, enough to turn on the brake lights and then the tranny won't lock the TC
