2006 F350 6.0 L Diesel Want Start
I have a 2006 F350 6.0 Liter Diesel dually that has gotten harder to start each day. Now today, I pulled into Best Buy parking lot and it wouldn't start for nothing. I reset the fuel pump, cleaned and reset the air cleaner and finally had to call the Ford Dealer for a roadside assistance tow.
It the problem of not starting turns out to be a power train problem then the 100,000 mile warranty will pay for everything. If not I guess I am on the hook for paying the bill.
Has anyone had the problem of the vehicle getting harder and harder to start and then suddenly it just wouldn't start?
Fuel filters and oil filters have been changed per the maintenance schedule.

Probably smart to post answers to the following questions:
MILEAGE?
Last oil change? (check oil now)
Taste on tip of your tongue oil from dipstick. (Sweet means a freeze)
Exhaust, noticeable color, if you remember?
Liquid on heads?
Overflow A freeze tank at or below line?
Any other info you think pertinent?

As you are probably aware, there were a lot of problems with head bolts and heads with the 6.0's depending on mileage. Some guys should taste the oil. Other guys, should drain a little and take a big drink. One has to decide!

Cranks Over Just Fine
It cranks over just fine. Batteries and starter work just fine.
Before it wouldn't start, I could start it, drive 10 minutes or 10 hours, park it, turn the key off, go back and try to start it and it would turn the engine over 3 or 5 times before it would start. Then over the last two weeks it took the engine turning over 5 or 6 times to start.
Once started the engine ran just fine, even idleing. Not missing, cutting out or anything like that. No water in fuel light coming on, no cluster panel lights staying on or anything.
It just wouldn't start. Also, I read on another forum that the injectors had an o-ring that could cause the injectors to loose pressure and thus keep the truck from running.
Anyway it is at the auto dealers waiting for a diagnosis.

Update on 2006 6.0 L not Starting
Dealer finally got the truck into the repair bay today. Initial testing showed some IC codes, he didn't tell me which ones, but the service manager said the HPOP showed to be ok. He said the injectors showed to be ok as well. Now they think it maybe electrical or a leak they never heard of before.
I saw on a like about an air test. Hook up the air hose to the pressure sensor hole, turn the air on, and listen with a scope.
Any other tests they can do? I don't trust them to know much about repairing diesels. They sell plenty of them and work on plenty of them but they only have 1 diesel mechanic for a large Ford dealership. Strange?
