I have a 04 F150 with a 5.4L, went down to the auto parts store to buy plugs for my truck and they told me I needed 16, 2 per cylinder, then i called the local dealership and they said the same thing, I have not yet had the chance to pull a coil off to see if there are two plugs under the coil. I was only aware of 1 per cylinder, but I have hear that the Dodge Hemi has two per cylinder so maybe the 5.4 Triton does. Anybody know? Thanks
Huh? The dealer told you there are two plugs per cylinder? Negative. It's a V-8, it has one badly designed plug per cylinder. Make sure you buy the one piece plug from Champion when you replace them.
Man, you know we're in a recession when a dealer tries to screw you on spark plugs.
Ford did make a 2 plug per cylinder Ranger. My dad had one...I believe it was a Mazda engine.....4 banger. If your dealer tells you an F150 takes 2 per cylinder I would be very wary of them!
Yeah its only one 1 spark plug per cylinder yes the Dodge Hemi takes 2 spark plugs per cyl but thats Dodge and I didnt even know that for the longest time
Raat73 go buy a Haynes or Chilton Manual for your truck. Then go and find a good shop. Stay away from that dealer. You are out of warranty so there is little reason to use someplace that told you that you needed 16 plugs for a Ford 5.4L. And the next time you may want to have someone else wait on you at that parts store.
no their is only 8 plugs on the 5.4...in fact i don't think ford ever made a engine that take 2 plug per cyl
The 1998 Ford Ranger had a 2.5 (GUTLESS sumbiatch) that had 2 plugs per. I think that was the first experiment into the COP design, though I'm probably wrong.
