Wiring diagram here:

Does your replacement solenoid have 3 or 4 posts (2 large and 1 or 2 small)?

Hmmmm, then either your switch is bad, or it is not connected, or connected correctly.
1. Check the switch. Remove the switch from the dash and check the two contact points for continuety with a meter when the button is pushed in . If you only have one wire hook up on the switch then check for continuety between the post and the switch body when the button is pushed in. If you don't get continuety, replace the switch.
2. Check your connections that they are in accordance with the wiring diagram Ross sent. On a dual contact switch, the wires should run from ground to one of the button posts, through the starter button, out the other post, to the "S" post on the starter solenoid. On a single post switch, the wires should run from the "S" post on the strater solenoid to the starter button. Check all connections.
3. Check to see if you have a newer ignition switch with a "Starter" position clockwise from "Ignition on." If you do then maybe the wiring has been modified to use the ignition switch instead of the button.
4. Lastly, check to see if you have a Neutral Safety Switch down on your shift levers. It's possible one was installed and it has either became disconnected or is shot. If there is one, Check it for continuety as well by switching it to the neutral position. Be sure to put the truck in Neutral when trying to start it.
Good Luck
