I found an option sheet for a 2007 Ford F-150 XL 4wd drive 145" Wheel base F14 and it had these codes for axle ratios. Should be the same for the 2006 -- look on the sticked on the Drivers Door, should be a section that says AXLE

X27 3.31 -- probably for the manual transmission trucks w/4.2L V6 yuck!
X19 3.55
X26 3.73
X25 4.10

XH9 3.55 Limited Slip
XB6 3.73 Limited Slip
XB5 4.10 Limited Slip
Yea, it says "B5" so I guess its a 4.10 Limited Slip....thats gonna be a gas hog for sure!
What do you think about the price?

5.4 3V EFI FFV V8
Tow Pkg.-front tow hooks, skid plates,...
plus some electronic goodies (windows, driver seat, CD, keyless entry, etc.)
....and they're asking $18000 for it

What ya'll think?

ALSO, they are not sure the rear end on it and not quick to research it but I got them to send me a picture of the manufacturer's label from driver's inside door frame with VIN and all that code on it. I haven't been able to find a site or means to interpret all the coded numbers on the label, for newer trucks at least. I have found some for 60's-70's but that is it.

Any Suggestions??
I am going to look at it Friday

Well the price... hmm.. $18,000 to me to pay for a 2 year old truck with 36,000 is a bit much.... Considering up here in the Northeast.. you can get 2007 F-150 XLTs equally equipped like mine.. for $21,000 NEW and you get the 5 years or 60,000 miles warranty... Granted the truck you are looking at does have the 8 foot bed... but do you need that extra 1.5 feet? Also is this truck at a Ford Stealership? With todays gas prices.. I'd offer them $15,000 and tell them to Like it!

I guess I didn't mention that it was listed on Ebay and I just contacted the seller and through talking to him for over a week he said (over the phone before I've even seen it) I could get it for $16,500... its at a small used car dealership in NJ..
Yes I do need the 8ft bed and its still got 2yrs of the warranty left... It is really clean and has some nice options that I probably could do without if they weren't included...
I was thinkin after looking at it I might be able to offer $15000-$15500 out the door. I can always get special employee/dealer price on new Ford's b/c of my grandfather that worked for them for 35yrs but Trucks depreciate so much and I think a good slightly used is one for me. Thanks for all your help/input.

I got an '06 F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCab with the 5.4L motor, tow package and tow hooks on the front end. The only recalls I had to deal with was the gauge cluster recalibration and the brake booster recall, which were both covered under the factory warranty. I paid $16,900 for mine and it only had 19K miles on the odometer when I bought it. My truck has plenty of power. It runs like a late 60's muscle car and handles great. I average around 18 MPG on the highway and around 15 MPG in the city, which is not too bad, but these $4.00 per gallon gas prices are starting to take their toll on my wallet.

On the 06's what can and cant u do as far as accessories. I want to eventually put 33's under it. And some mickey thompson rims. I was told i'd have to get it recalibrated. And that the wheels have psi sensors on them. Plus where can i get a spare key? I just want to unlock the doors with it.

a stock 4x4 can fit 33's with no problem

And some mickey thompson rims.
get the same backspacing as stock...I really recommend that you get about 1/2" more track width.

Do not tuck the rims/tires and further inside the truck. Your tires will rub the upper control arm if you do.

Also, 17" rims are the smallest that will fit

I was told i'd have to get it recalibrated.
PCM? depends on how **** retentive you are. I drove with 35" tires on my Bronco when it originally had 31" tires. I just knew to compensate the MPH by +5 mph at any speed.

But yeah, it would probably be best to get a programmer or let the dealer fix that for you

And that the wheels have psi sensors on them.
no. Your 06 DOES NOT HAVE TPMS INSTALLED. the 07+ trucks have it.

Plus where can i get a spare key? I just want to unlock the doors with it.
walmart makes a valet key that will work. these trucks have the same basic key that has been around since 1997. The Walmart key will not start the truck, but it will unlock the doors/tailgate.

eBay sells the transponder keys that will start the truck. I've bought several for under $20 shipped. and if you have 2 keys that work already, you can program the new key for free by yourself
My stuff would be the bolded parts

oh yeah, to answer your very last post:

you can buy the remotes off of eBay...bought 2 for my Mustang and they worked great for $15.00

but you need the module that will let it work...I don't know if it's already installed or not. Do you have electric locks? I suggest you buy some and see if they work after running through the programming cycle. They are fairly cheap

the programming of a remote is just a series of key positions, and remote button pushing...and you need all the remotes together at once. No need to see the dealer unless you don't have 2 transponder keys already

The Gauge recalibration is really nothing more than the dealership downloading a program into the powertrain control module basically. Apparently some trucks left Ford's now closed Virginia Factory with the gauges uncalibrated. Only took the techs about 15 to 20 minutes to fix this problem. Its an easy fix.

Yes, I have worked on some warbirds, including restoring the oleo struts for the main landing gear for the Boeing B-17F bomber "Memphis Belle," which is currently undergoing restoration back to flying condition at the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton. Matter of fact, my dad flew the Memphis Belle as an instructor pilot when it was assigned to the Training Command at MacDill Field in Tampa, Florida in late 1944 where he taught B-17 pilot and co-pilot training in it. Other warbirds that I have helped to restore for the National Museum of the USAF include; a Kawanishi N1K-2 "Shiden Kai" George 21 Japanese WWII fighter, a Bristol Beaufighter, and a North American RF-86F "Haymaker" recon fighter. I have not really worked much on any Navy warbirds except an old SBD Dauntless dive bomber that I helped to wrap up for shipment to another museum, although I am currently in the process of restoring an old Army T-42 Baron twin engine bird back to airworthy condition, which will actually fly again.

all I can say is to try it man. like I said, the remote FOBs are cheap. pick 1 up for $20 and test it out...and of course report back so we all know for next time

oem FX4 tires are 32's...the 33's will fit your truck with NO MODS...just slap them on like they were the OEM size. I recommend a 285x70x17 (33x11.5x17)
bold stuff again
