300 inline to AOD, expert needed
Hello everyone. I wonder if someone could help me out a bit with an upcoming project. Thanks.
I have a '75 F-350, with a worn out 390 and a good C-6. I want to replace it with a 300 inline, and an AOD trans (not an EAOD).
I have not purchased either yet, as I'm still in the process of educating myself about the variables, etc.
WHAT I NEED TO KNOW: To bolt one to the other, with the 300 bolt to any AOD? and if not, what years, models, etc. will bolt to which. Any help is greatly appreciated.

AOD strength
Thanks for the note. I don't haul much with the truck, so I think the AOD will be great for long trips.
Also, regarding strength: From reading all the trans sites, the 92-93 truck AOD's were the strongest, so I looking for one of them. There are also quite a few after market goodies I can get to add when I have it rebuilt (prior to installation), which will make it even more durable and smooth.

I am in the process of putting a 300-6 in my 1990 F350 dually. I am mating it up to a AOD. I dont plan on using overdrive much. This is the AOD's weak link. The truck had a 7.3L but was locked up. Hopefully in the next few weeks it will be up and running. AOD gets a bad rap sometimes but if you keep the TV cable adjusted properly it will last along time.

AOD Transmission from PATC, AOD Transmissions
AOD Performance Products - Baumann Electronic Controls

Probably the best on for info, as well as the other stuff including prices, they have a TV cable adjustment link:
TCI - Ford AOD, AODE and 4R70W
Good luck with your project.
Also, these sites mention '88-'93 for cores, so your tip on the '92-'93 truck boxes is sound. And, afaik, the AOD was only produced in the 300/302 et. al. bolt pattern.
