12 volt supply line on round plug?

I have a 2004 F150 5.4L...I want to be able to run my 12 volt lights in my camper thru the trailer light Round plug is it possible? i have heard on GMC's that there is a wire that needs to be hooked to the battery to make this possible. Are our Fords the same way? Please help, thanks in advance!

If you have the factory tow package everything is already there. There is a relay that comes with the brake controler pigtail. The relay should plug in on the right side kick panel of the truck under the dash. I believe the wire is only hot while the key is on to prevent draining of the vehicle battery.

The relay is only used for providing a charge to the trailer's battery. Your trailer's tail lights should work by just plugging in the trailer's 7-pin connector. If they're not working, you should check your fuses.
