Weight of my '89 7.3 whole truck

89 reg cab 7.3 E4OD with heavy pick up truck style bumper. Registration is due and I can save 75$ if the weight will be under 3099 lbs. Anybody have some real weights? Thanks

Your GVWR is on the tag on the door. I don't think you are going to make it. Subtract 3/4 ton from the GVWR and that is going to be close to the truck's weight(If you have a f250). If you regularly haul the truck with a load, your best bet is to tag it for the GVWR of the truck.

You'll probably have to get a certified weight to "prove" the weight to DMV. But my feeling is that your over the 3100# due to the engine weight.

If you have two wheel drive, I will guess two of those cheaper plates will almost work, your empty weight is going to be about 6600 pounds.

If it is a 4x4, you will be about 7300 pounds.

If you haul anything, you better stick with 8800 pound plates.

The registered weight must exceed the truck, the passengers, anything in the truck and anything towed behind the truck.

That is why I have 20,000 pounds as my registered weight.

3,000 lbs!!!! Wow, I think thats what a vw jetta or A toyota prius weigh. My heavy duty half ton chevy weighs about 5500-6000 and thats with a small block gass.(tool box, thick sprayed rhino liner, bumber.) A loaded 7.3 engine with exhaust mans is already nearly 1000 lbs. Then the tranny and torque converter and probably a fairly heavy rear end so now were probably close to 2000 just for the drive train. I don't know how much that front susspension weighs along with the chassis, cab and bed. You better start choppin parts off cause you got alot of weight to drop. My ford 2wd auto (a little bigger cab) dry weighs right at 8000 lbs.
No Offence on any of this, Its just....you might want to set $75 back. I don't blame ya though, Any way to save some money. Probably even get better fuel milage at 3000 lbs. Well, have a good day.

go to a scrap yard or truck stop. you know, someplace with a scale, and you will know for sure. but i bet you will see something in the area of 7,200 to 7,900 lbs empty weight.
