Foul smelling AC
Guys,
Lets do a survey,
How best to remove the mold and mildew that gets into the AC systems of us who live in the south where it's real humid most of the year and mildew is a real problem in automotive air conditioners.
What works best to remove the bad smell and keep it gone ?

One of the most effective and inexpensive agents is a 10:1 mixture of bleach (Clorox, etc) solution applied to all the vents and drainage collection box. Drawbacks are the potent chlorine smell for a few days and the possbility of bleach spots on upholstery or carpet if spilled. A compressor, atomizer jar and a length of flexible 1/4" tubing work well for infusing the solution along the vent lines.
There are no magic cures to keeping it out, once infestation has occured. If so, housewives would universally rejoice over not having to repeatedly clean the same muck out of shower stalls.

The one thing you can do on a regular basis is . get in the habit of turning your A/C off about 5 or 10 minutes before you get to your destination and leave the blower running on high. If you have an outside air selection turn it to that as well It will go a long way toward drying out the evap. We have the same problem in Phoenix. If its real humid you can drank the heat for a minute too.
