I know that if you do not have the servicing done at the intervals stated in the maintenance manual that Ford will try and refuse warranty work if and when something breaks; I've seen it happen. My 60,000 mile servicing is due in another 1K let the dealer shafting begin; that is when I am going to have my recall repaired and request new flares under warranty (I have 75,000 warranty). I'll learn a lot about my dealership's
willingness to satisfy a long time customer; however I am not that confident that they will replace the flares.

My flares weren't too bad so I tried Mother's Back to Black and they look brand new 4 weeks later. My '05 FX4 is now out of warranty, and new flares could fade in time like the old ones, so I will continue to polish them with Back to Black or mabey paint them at a later date. I've been a car refinisher for 21 years so prepping them and painting them will be nothing more than a P.I.T.A.

I just picked up my truck from the dealer. I originally took it in for the recall on the vacuum hose and figured I would have them replace the faded fender trim at the same time. I also made them replace the plastic cowl that is between the hood and the windshield because it was faded worse than the fender trim. Everything was covered under the warranty. If any of you plan on going into Ford to have the fender trim replaced, have them do the cowl too.
