troubleshooting a vibration
2003 SC Fx4 w/bilsteins.
I have been troubleshooting a vibration. Feels like a warped rotor. But it doesn't do it every time I brake, and it happens when I am not even on the brakes, or even accellerating.
It seems like it is is always worst first thing in the morning with a peak vibration at 42-43 mph. It doesn't pull side to side, and it seems like a low frequency vibration, more like pulsing then buzz. You can feel the vibration throughout your body, not just feet or hands. It does seem worse at the stearing wheel then anywhere else. I have felt it a couple times while braking, but I couldn't reproduce it to figure out if I the ABS kicked in, or if it is part of my problem.
It doesn't do it continuously. I have never felt like something was loose in the stearing or suspension.
Here was one thought: bearings/hub. But I went to O'Reileys and their $200+ per side. I guess it is a "whole assymbly". Not sure I want to just change them to eliminate that possiblilty. Tires have been "re-balanced" and rotated, and that didn't affect it.
thanks

Well I had one that turned out to be a driveshaft problem, even though I had a mechanic tell me that was not it, but I finally took the driveline out after quite a few months and a couple u-joints were starting to go.
But the one I have now many years later has turned out to be the tires coming apart, and I found that when like was said, when I lifted the truck and spun the tires and could see one had a slight oval shape and one if you looked straight at it from the back had a small s-shape to it, as the belts I guess were starting to shift.
Should not be hard to find if you look things over.
