2008 f150 gas mileage

I just bought a 2008 f150 4x4 5.4L V8. Currently my computer is reading 10mpg and i have yet to exceed that. I have only driven the truck 100 miles and have burned slightly over a quarter tank of gas. This seems absurd to me and have seen where they should get around 13 city. Any suggestions or comments on what could be wrong or what I might be able to do to improve this number? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Press the reset button...Then lay off the gas, and get on the highway for a while. It probably idled on the dealer lot, and loading lots for several hours which is ZERO mpg's.

Do not pay any attention to the mileage for the first 2500 miles or so. It WILL get better

also, the transmission is adaptive. it learns how you drive...so if someone was aggressive while test driving it before you bought, it can affect MPG

but yeah, fill up, reset trip computer and light throttle...you should at least get 12-13 mpg city with light throttle

Yeah I have heard that it will get better once the engine gets broken in. Also, I have not reset the computer yet or been on the highway much. I have just been skeptical because I have heard they get 13 city which is the same as my old truck (tundra), but so far it has not gotten nearly what the tundra did. I will just wait a while and see what happens. Thanks for the advice.
