hello, my Dad just bought a new 2008 f450 6.4L
his vin # 1FTXW43R48EC23381
what were trying to figure out is his reend 410 or 488 ??
its a 4x4 and i have a 03 6L it has the 410 , were trying to estimate his fuel mileage etc

F450s only come in 4.30 now. If it is one that was on the lot for a while...since the end of last year...it couold have 4.88s.

 

can you tell by the vin # ?

 

I just ran the VIN and it doesn't show the build date or rearend ratio, but if you can pull the build date off the door you can tell if 4.88s are a possibility. If it was built January of this year or later it has 4.30s I believe.

i looked at the fleet site with that vin # gives a lot of info but not re end

 

Job 2 means it was built from July to December 07. There were several updates to the truck over Job 1.
