Food for Thought
I heard bits and pieces of a news commentator stating that Ford and General Motors are closing plants that produce the large passenger cars, SUV's and Trucks.
If this should catch on as the panic grows re fuel prices and Manufactures start producing only tiny little electric vehicles, and vehicles with tiny little engines, what do you guys think the effect will be on the future value of our OBS's? Up? Down? Planters?
I was talking with a woman today, a Pharmacists that migrated from South Africa and she says that tiny little cars are all that can be found in her home town as fuel (Gasoline) is $17.00 per gallon. ($306.00 per tank on a fill up)
I suppose it could happen here but it's doubtful.
I am in favor of hanging on to my OBS as I think that we are on the brink of owning Classics. I predict that clean, well maintained, strong running PSD's are not only going to hold their value but I think that they will increase in value.
What are the thought's from the rest of you?

Until very recently the nicer OBS trucks, especialy short cab, long bed diesels were holding values nicely around here. Seems like fuels costs and housing slump hit home hard about the first of the year and anything that gobbles fuel can be found cheap if you look just a bit. Of course there are some sitting on dealers lots with last years prices still attached and a few private ones for sale who's owners dont get to town often enough but that will always be the case. I had a 2001 F-350 4 door 4x4 and escaped out from under it by the hair of my chin last fall just before the market dropped. Lots and lots of pick ups sitting by the road for sale. My 97SD is about 1/2 toy and 1/2 needed and I never realy thought about it being an investment. A person would have to think that none of these old trucks are going to be worth a whole lot except to the very few that actualy need them for what they will do and that will certainly cut the values. Nobody but the wealthy will be able to put many miles on them, thats for sure.

its a shame. there is no reason for all this. companies adverties cars getting 30 + mpg. that isnt anything to brag about, trucks should get that now. for the last few decades there have been cars getting 30+mpg, i think they can do better, along with our government doing better at helping the economy. and that 300 or 600 bucks, whats that, fuel or bill catch up money, it wont stimulate anythin
obs crew cabs i found held good value, they were always at least 2-3000 more than a simalar powerstroke w a ext cab or reg cab, and everyone wants em, i woulda got one if it werent so much more. i see desiels for sale all over, 100k mile reg cab 4x4 psd if you look can be found for round six easy. no one wants somethin they cant afford to drive. even if they actually need it they still wont want it lol.
