I haven't been coon hunting since I was 10 or 11. My dad use to coon hunt all the time, But one by one his friends stopped, and then it was harder to find land to hunt on so we got out of it. We had talked about getting back into it, we even got some dogs, but I didn't have time nor money to really hunt them like I should have, plus with me in college. One of our neighbors down the road got the dogs and papers for free.

I don't have any dogs of my own either. My buddies have a few. Your right, its hard to find land to hunt on. There is a lot of land that people never fool with but they won't let anybody hunt it. We had a good spot a while back but a guy shot through the woods at us and blocked our trucks in. I swear if the coons were in season where we could shoot them and we had the gun, I might have shot him. You don't just come up on somebody shooting at them like that. We wasn't even close to his land.

Ain't that the dog gone truth!

The place we hunted was supposedly bought up by a bunch of doctors and other high rollers.

I dunno what I would have done if someone was shooting at me and blocked me in when I wasn't on their land, guess that why my bro and dad always keep some kind of gun in there vehicals. I guess it's a good thing none of yall got shot.

When i was in NC alot of the guys there deer hunt with dogs. Funny story, The place i was staying at was next to a mill pond and these guys were running dogs one morning. Well down the road a bit was this guy sitting in his truck yapping away on the CB rifle hung out the window when this nice 6 point comes wading across the pond and crosses the road behind him about ten feet from the back of his truck. The guy was too busy chattering on the radio to even notice the deer, 10 minutes later here come the dogs heading the opposite way the guy goes barreling out of his truck after them (He looked like Larry the cable guy) and off in the woods. All i could do was sit there and LMAO.

I have never hunted deer with dogs. We went coon hunting with some people one time and their dogs ran deer. Does that count? They got beat for it.

The only problem with running deer is their Adrenalin gets going and it makes the meat tough.

I don't want tough meat so I will just stick to sitting in the tree. I enjoy my naps in my stand anyway.

Its not as bad as you'd think. I kill a few deer a year out of the treestand and a few dog hunting. I can honestly say when I pull a pack of meat out the freezer I dont know which deer it was. Its got a lot to do with how you cook it also.

I don't do much deer hunting, but I love to shoot doves. Places to shoot are getting hard to come by these days though.

My girlfriend is a paralegal for the Orangeburg SC public defenders office. While she was doing some work at home I somehow stumbled upon some charges in her SC offenses list which I felt the need to share.

"Alteration of teeth of mules or horses"
"Feeding garbage to swine"
"Harassing a police dog or horse"
"Sale/possesion of a sheep killing dog"
"Feed, entice or molest an alligator"
