I am looking at a rough cournty lift for my 06 Super Duty. I want to go with a 8 inch lift and I like the rough country because they do not lower the stock front suspension arm, They replace all the hardware with a four link design. I called my local 4 wheel parts and they said they do not sell rough country in texas because they are not dot approved. My question is should i stay away from rough country? their products look like they are tough but if they are not dot approved could i face legal hassles later? Any one have or had them?
I really like the four link but the only one that 4wp sells is a $4500 fabtech. I can get the rough counrty direct from the manufacturer for $1600
Rough Country is well known for horrible ride quality. This might not be a problem on a 79 F250 but on a nice shiney new two-fiddy I wouldnt cut corners to save a buck. You'll regret it very quickly.

some lifts ride better than others and Id say Rough Country sells one of the lower end harsher riding systems on the market.
Its the last company Id look at if I ever lift my S-diddy
I seriously doubt a company could mass produce and openly sell a suspension lift intended for a new year model truck that was not DOT approved. I dont see them being allowed to sell it under those terms.

I think anything off the shelf is going to ride like complete ass regardless.
I'd never lift a SD. Its pointless w/out some serious $$, ie $15000+ for coilovers, 4-link, new steering, serious body mods, new axles, etc. The world has too many mall crawlers as it is
4WP is lying, they do all the time... its part of their policy. I would bet money that RC lifts are DOT
price out hubs and bearings after you put it in the drink.

I just put on a 3" Rough Country lift last weekend. I gotta say, I think it rides better than stock! the u-bolts for the rear were a lil long & they didn't give ya the mounting bolt for the front stabilizer but it was a good kit.
Hares a pic of my 06 F-250
well this is in now way gonna be a mall crawler or anything else that's useless... im actually going down in size from my factory wheels and going from chrome to black. I've had a show truck this on is fi fun and if that means scratches so be it..ok now back to topic... I don't expect it to ride like a cadillac but I don't want a ruptured spleen by hitting a pothole. that said I don't wana spend 4500 on fabtech and I want 4 link front not just drop brackets... who should I look at for these requirements.... thanks guys
I've seen the Rough Country lift on a newer Chevy and it looked a beefy kit... I have used them on Jeep Cherokee's myself and think they are good kits..
Got a 4 inch on my f250 89' and it rides just fine. have had it for about 4 years and many miles off-road and its still fine, I also installed it myself in a weekend.
