You're welcome, and how about some specifics? What did you do to get it to run? What did you learn? It's been a month, are you driving it yet?

amazon/ebay is the way to go for availability.
then hit up the aftermarket books for Y parts. Concours, Carpenter etc.

if you got time and printer paper, check my previous post with 58 manual link.
high res for decent printouts, get a 3 hole punch and a binder. you're on your way.
35 dollars? i paid 15 for my 61-71 truck manual... that includs ford, dodge chevy and international also i belive...

but didnt this guy[i wanted to say kid... but since im 18 also cant really] end up taking it to a garage, and paying some one else to fix it?

this is the one i think

personally i think taking it to a mechanic is sort of giving up on it... just my personall experince... but then again... ive been around cars and trucks for 18 and a half years.... so ive got that drive to work on anything that drives... or could possibly drive... **shrugs**

85$ well spent so he could move on with the project. It's running, and now he's trying to get a after market shifter hooked up.

From the SECOND site he went to:
"...but i guess it was a mixture of a lot of things. timing was off, it was off by a few teeth, he had to move the distributor a little bit (we did that everytime we tried starting it), i need a new carb he said, and spoiled gas (i knew it was spoiled, i used a seperate gas canister with clean fresh gas to start it though)...."

His impatients is his biggest problem - d**n punk teenagers anyhow....

I've had the same problem. The firing order is correct but out of sinc. with TDC for the ignition stroke. It sounds to me you are firing at TDC for the exhaust stroke and therefore backfiring through the exhaust manifold. Solution: Set the flywheel to the TDC mark then rotate the distributor shaft 180 degrees (half a turn) before re-fitting the distributor. Use carburetor spray to temporally eliminate the other, fuel based, variables. If this works you know you have solved one problem and can move onto the fuel supply afterwards. Always try to work on one variable at a time. Hope this helps, AussieDrew.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
