Yeah...Sarat closed the Chicopee point...bought Enfield Ford and moved the staff and name there.
We've also picked up some work from Athol...over the years it's been a pretty good market for us...both sales and service.
I heard today...unsubstantiated...but from a pretty responsible source...that Mathieu was considering closing in Winchendon and moving to Athol.
old news.. salvadores and mathiues wanted to buy our dealership.. ford has the right of first refusal and matched the highest offer..so the owner told us.. they could buy the building though..my owner wanted to open a used car superstore.. but who knows, small town and bad rep now.
most diesels are under warranty and they require a lot of PCM updates which I cannot get unless I am a dealer and special tools are very expensive..I
I read something for the first time the other day (suspected for a while tho)that the car manufacturers are pretty stingy about giving out information on the latest and greatest info on their cars. There's apparently a legislative battle going on over it - here's an article - because it obviously puts any independent at a disadvantage. I'd been wondering why, although I live in an area which has to have the highest Subaru per capita outside the People's Republic of Boulder, CO, I have to drive 15 miles to an independent mechanic who works on them, not that big a deal unless your car needs a mechanic. Tough call. I suppose if I manufactured a car, with all the liability issues surrounding it, I'd want pretty tight controls over who can work on it. But to tell someone he/she can't make a living wrenching on a huge percentage of cars on the road just seems downright un-American. Plus, it's not like there aren't testing and certifications that could ensure an independent's competence.
Well, good luck. Seems like just from the number of nibbles on this board, something will work out.
aren't you guys far away?? like agawam or something?? I went to school w/ a guy from your dealership.. Honestly I had been looking pretty seriously for a few months prior to the buy back and not much around unless I wanted to drive over an hr and make less than I already was flat rate hourly wise anyways..
Just south of Providence, so it would be a bit of a ride.
Yeah Im from Peterborough NH and I saw Athol closed bought from them in 2003, AppleValley closed bought from them in 2006. I was in Newport RI in early spring and saw they had closed up. Its really sick!

And then there was Peterbough Ford that was owned by the Perry Family that closed back 10 years ago....
Yes that was a good place I bought my 97 F150 there in 1996 after it was sold it went downhill. I still see the old owner though time to time and the two buildings were just torn down.
