help broke OD swich off shifter
#2
I've broke this cheap switch off every truck I've had, well, at least three of them anyways! Sometimes they can be super glued back on, but in my '01 F450 I had the switch no longer worked and I could no longer turn off OD. If you can push the button and the OD Off light comes on, just glue the tip back on. If the switch no longer works, I believe the switch has to be replaced. You might check around at salvage yards for one but I'm sure most are going to be broken too.

Did you just break the cap or the button or the whole end of the lever?
The cap just snaps off and the button pulls out.

RED01 I did the same. These guys are not reading.
I just did the same thing. We broke the plastic "HOUSING" that the TCS fits into and the cover fits onto. I don't know if the plastic housing can be purchased. I can reuse the switch and cover if that housing comes off the metal flared tube? (shifter)

If the actual "shift ****" is broken, the shift lever will need to be replaced. The **** isn't available separately. The lever comes without the switch or the ring.
It's a common part and and usually in stock at the dealer. The "usual" problem is the wires break and short out at the bottom where they exit the lever. If you search for a used shift lever, be sure to check the wires where they exit the stick.
To replace it:
-Remove the column trim (You'll have to pull the lock cylinder).
- Follow the wires from the shift lever down the column, there is a 2 wire connector about 6" from the shift lever. You might have to lower the column down to access the connector (4 nuts).
-Drive the pin out holding the lever to the shift tube. It taps right out from the bottom with a punch.
-Insert the new lever and tap the pin into place.
-Plug in the wiring
-Reattach the column if you had to lower it.
-Reinstall the trim.
Number Dummy can provide the part number if you ask nice.
