Many moons ago I put an air horn in the '65 Dodge Dart GT that I had. The system used a vacuum driven pump, an air storage cylinder, and a electric solenoid for the horn. It was quite reliable, except for the one time the solenoid stuck after leaving a buddy's house and giving a quick toot goodbye. That got the neighbors glaring hard.

I don't know if such systems are even around anymore, but if I could find one I'd use it in a heartbeat over an electric compressor system. OTH, I'm not sure how modern engines with all their computer controls would deal with the vacuum pump. I'm sure others would know better than I.

Wednesday I got a new draw bar for my receiver hitch. The 6" drop I had puts the rear end of the trailer almost on the ground, so I got an 8" drop along with a switch ball set from Curt with 1-7/8" and 2" *****. We'll see how well that works.

What size trailer is it? I thought your truck was stock height...? I've never had to use more than a 2.5" drop for a stock height F250. I use an 8" drop on my lifted F350

Yeah, it's stock height. It sits higher than my wrecked F150, though. I have to reach when I'm under it, while I didn't have to when I was under the F150.

I have a 6x12 enclosed utility trailer and a 4x6 open utility trailer, both with low tongues. The 6x12 is heavy enough that it has a 2" hitch, while the 4x6 is light enough that it has a 1-7/8" hitch. The 4x6 is more for the Suzuki than the truck, though; still, I thought it would be a good idea to be able to tow it with the truck. I also have a 1-1/2" draw bar with a 2" ball mounted so I can move the 6x12 with the Suzuki, but that's way too much trailer for that little car. It weighs almost as much as the Suzuki when it's loaded.

Replaced my lower radiator hose and swapped out the thermostat. The radiator drain valve sure was a pain to get to. Looks like it fixed the leak though so all is good!

Now after a quick lunch and cold beer i'm going to head back out and see if I can figure out how to adjust the doors so they stop rattling.

Today got the oil changed on the 02 F250. Along with cleaned the air filter, checked the battery and cleaned the terminals, and found the original colors for the truck being it has been repainted. I have to say personally I like the current colors more.

Finally found some time to install my 130a alternator, 2 ga charge cables, and 175a megafuse today. So far so good, next up is adding all the lighting I've collected.

Finally got some time to work on my truck again. Changed out some of the band clamps in my exhaust for u-bolts. The pipes had pulled out at the y-pipe and have been leaking for months. I can barely hear the engine now. Did get a 172, gonna reset and see if I keep getting it, might just throw an FPR at it if it keeps popping up. Now that I can't hear the exhaust, I think I need to stop that AIR pump from buzzing.
I also finally finished welding up the first of my side steps (passenger side). Tread comes in 8" below the rocker, its all made up of 2x2 and 2x4 .25 wall tube (what I had lying around) and is bolted to the frame. What a world of difference getting in, now I really need to finish up the drivers side.

I'm very sorry to say I cussed out my 99 f-150...I seem to be having a problem with the battery cables on one or the other end. Some times it starts no prob then all of a sudden it will just CLICK and go dead...I jump out and wiggle the pos and neg cables wait for the dome light to go on and try starting it again. Today it took a butt load of trys before I could get it to start....needless to say I used every word I know!!!

I finally got around to buying the Clutch Pedal Assembly Bushing kit....

And....Wow.

My butthole is still pretty sore...Ugh.

$21.75 for parts

+

$10.37 for shipping (On a handful of plastic less than 1/2 a pound!!!)

At least the frickin' clutch and brake pedal won't shift anymore.
