Thumbs up Used to have a V10

Congrats again Tom, from one of the 7.3 guys. I had a V10 at one time and it pulled my 9500 fiver great and I just by dumb luck stumbled on my present 02 7.3 that I love too. I heard a guy here in Charleston one day with a V10 that had dual exhaust and some sort of performance exhaust and honestly at the time it sounded like my wifie's Camaro V6....It was not a sound like I liked to hear from a V8 rumbling...it kinda had the V6 buzz, not as bad as those ricers and thier fart cars, but it just didn't sound right...Just to let you know...Find one and listen to it before you put a louder muffler on it..otherwise I think you will love it too...CONGRATS....Dave

Tom:

Why did you opt for the 4 1 rears? I thought you would want the better mileage rears? Are the 3.7's available for V-10 apllications?

From my experience, rpms do not hurt the V-10 like they do the diesel. I use to find my fuel milage was the same running in either 4th or 5th empty with my v10 5 speed manual. My torque range was best at 2800+rpms towing. Towing I always ran 4th gear and not overdrive. Use to run steep hills at 55 mph in 3rd gear at about 4,000 rpms. When I bought my v10 I wanted 4.10's and the dealer talked me out of it. That was a big mistake that I later found towing heavy. The V10's love the rpms

We now have the 08 6.4L had the same truck in the V-10 year 05. Great truck pulled a 13K 5th wheel all over the country with no problem. Got a Diesel because well we just wanted one. You will not pull up hills as well but you will pull them ..You will not get as good MPG but it will only be @ 2 MPG less. There are times we regret the change and times we are glad we made the change. There is nothing wrong with the V-10..

Hi richfaa, we will be passing by you heading to Cedar Point this summer. Have you gone to Va beach from your house? That will be our 2nd leg, planning 76-70-522-81-66-17-95 to Doswell,Va overnight about 10 hours driving.
Back on track, Tom do you have a delivery date for your V10 yet? You must be getting excited for a new truck.

That sucks your truck was a lemon, good to hear it got straightened out. The V10 is a fine motor, you should be happy with it.

Since firehawk198 posted some V10 sound clips, heres a clip of my 04' V10 exhaust. Video of 6.8l Exhaust - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thanks for the input guys. The truck was ordered at the dealer last thursday
but has not been asigned a date yet. I was told Ford only pulls orders once a week and mine has not been pulled yet.

But my old truck is running not so good and almost got my wife killed last Saturday.(pulled out in traffic and no trottle response)
So I called to see if Ford can rush this build they told me no, but they are looking for the same truck in a diesel. They said we will work something out.

We will see
Tom

In your case I would stick with the V10. Maybe the dealer could give you a loaner car and keep your truck on their lot until yours comes in. Even if it is just a used Suv or small car.
