There was a small puddle on the ground last week and I could see it dripping off the frame. I did not see anything after that day so I was worried that they would tell me they couldn't find it. But they took care of it. I am glad since I am getting ready to start towing for the summer. Would not want to have it blow when I am off for a weekend of camping. He told me that there crimps that are bad on the earlier ones.

Costco now has the Chevron Delo with CJ-4 label on it by the case. Did not look at the price but generally they are competitive on things like that. My understanding is that Delo has been a great diesel oil (dino not syn).

Currently I own a gas truck so I watch and learn on stuff like this but don't pay as much attention as if I owned one.

The dealer obviously is not following the guidelines for repair. The replacement radiator used is to be certified stock from inventory.

Mine just rolled over 26000 miles. Noticed a small puddle of antifreeze under the front left corner of the truck. Took it to the dealership, they knew immediately what was up. Had to order the radiator, but it was certified stock. Got the seat SB done at the same time. So far...so good.

The leaks are generaly were the tanks are crimped to the radiator, the bad production run of radiators did not have the tanks crimped to the right spec which caused most of the problems.

whats aggravating is that they want touch it until there is a critical problem. Had mine in the shop getting the bumper repainted & was talking to the techs about the radiator, they know its a problem ... especially on the job 1 trucks. Yet , they want touch it until its critical. You look on the posts here and you see people that have had them go out from 2000 mi to 40,000 mi. Hell, I bought my truck to pull my 39' toy hauler & have yet to put the hitch in the truck. Not about to get down the road & have my radiator abort on me! Last thing my service writer told me was I ought to sabotage it to get it replaced!

Dont quote me but i dont think the radiator is covered under the major powertrain warranty which means it falls under the 3 yr 36,000 mile bumper to bumper unless you have a preminum plus plan, anyways if this is right(im not sure) ford can play the odds a little.

Anyone have a leak in the hose connections at radiator or engine? My friends 6.4 has a leak at the upper radiator hose end next to the engine. O-ring seal? Don't know if he talked to dealer about it yet.

I think it might end up being a recall at some point. I have a 2006 Explorer that got a new radiator at 11,000 miles and now I am at 50,000 and guess what the replacement has a leak in the same place. My headache this time as the warranty is up. When I called the repair dept. pretty much admitted they knew about the problem but right now it is not recalled or covered. : (

Once you pass the 3/36000 bumper/bumper warranty, you own the radiator. Not covered on the 100000 drivetrain warranty.

Myself and my dealer learned this the hard way and most people with common sense think that Ford should pick up the tab on any replacement regardless of miles. Obivously, they'll never do that.

Not Again !

Just replaced my radiator for the 2nd time in 1.5 years. $1340.33 - about the same price I paid in March 2013 for the identical repair. The dealer told me they gave me a little break on the price this time. Basic message from Ford Cust Service rep is that now I have 2 year's warranty (instead of the 1 year from the last time and that is all they can do).

Going to need to buy another truck in the next couple of years, will be hard to abide this. I was mad enough the first time I replaced it.
