The reason why he didn't take dad's mustang is because his dad wouldn't let him have it. That was the reason for the new mustang.

I know when I returned from deployment, me and the the old man, pulled and built the 302, and then he got deployed, I had to wait to finish the build up. You can't finish a son and fatehr project without your father.

I love that old man. I call him pops.
