Spent most of this morning mowing the yard. Anybody else here like mowing? I didn't used to....but now I enjoy it. And if you do mow, what mower do you use? I used a JD GX-75 this morning...but we have an Agco-Allis and a Yard Machine too.
Mowing is my favorite sunday activity, but in Iowa I'm still waiting for spring to really kick in and get the grass growing. I got a Craftsmen something or other 21 horse rider, it was a new model last year anyway.
I love mowing as long as I'm not behind a pusher. I mow my lawn with a 1989 John Deere 160 that I restored. I have a John Deere 4310 diesel tractor a 5' field deck for the bigger stuff. My last job was sitting on a Scag 72" zero turn for 50 hours a week. That was the life.
i love mowin too. I use a 04 Craftsman 22HP 48" cut or an 99 Craftsman 12HP 36". They both have good and bad points. the 04 has an auto trans which i cant stand. I liked the Ol' 1986 Craftsman Silver Bullet we used to have. That tractor and our old IHC Lawntractor were my favourite.
I looked at the ExMarks but they were about 4 thousand dollars more expensive on average than the Deeres. I'll likely get an ExMark CT like you've got there after the 09 mowing season. The CT is a smaller mower isn't it? I know you can get it with a 48" deck on it. I'd go with a Kohler on the smaller engines and a Kawasaki on the bigger models with bigger engines. My brother worked in a JD dealership for mowers and small tractors and he said that the Briggs is impossible to do anything with if it breaks.
Very nice looking mower you got there though. How many hours you got on that thing?
I've always wondered.... how do these steer and drive? do they steer like a bulldozer? where u pull one lever back and one forward to turn?
I'd describe it more like Bobcat controls on a skidsteer. Push one forward and that side goes forward. Push both forward and it goes forward. Pull both back you go back. To turn real tight push one forward pull one back.
