If the compressor, dryer tank, expansion valve or any port where hoses connect to is uncapped, these parts are history.
Once outside air, especially if humid, gets into the system, the A/C must be evacuated within a few weeks, or you can kiss these parts good bye.
There were three different Ford A/C units available for these trucks, one was factory installed, two were dealer installed.
The factory A/C is integrated in with the heater, the dash mounted controls operate both the A/C and the heater. There is a separate glove box.
This unit takes R-12, as did every Ford A/C thru the 1990's.

Yes, call the Kearney Store 308.237.5103 and ask for me. If your going to be in Kearney I have the unit in storage with all my 56 stuff and is close to my store. Just give me a call. I also have tons of pictures when I installed the one I have in my truck. It was not a bad install and can help with some of the install questions you may have.
