Hey, folks ... new-ish guy here in Owensboro. My ride, which is known to my family as "Big Red," is an '87 F-150 S, really basic. 302, AOD, power steering and brakes, and not a whole lot else.
I'm in the process of fixing rust and getting ready to paint it using the Rustoleum/roller method. I know, I'm cheap, but anything will look better than the way Red looks now.
Basically, how it all came down is this: I used to buy and sell cars quite a bit, fixing what needed to be fixed. Then I became disabled and couldn't do it anymore. Well, this truck came along, and I figured I'd keep it long enough to fix a few things, then sell it and get back into a minivan. (I know, but I have four kids.)
Of course, I fell in love with Big Red from the first drive.
And now it's a "lifer." It'll be here till it dies, or I die.
If anyone knows where I can get a decent, straight (it can be slightly rusty) tailgate cheap, please let me know. I've got everything else pretty much that I'll need. But a good, fixable tailgate has been impossible so far.
Catch y'all later. Gotta run get some chores done and then it's truck time again!
HI there Jacob! WElcome to our little slice of FTE. Sounds like you got a little bit of work coming with RED. Not sure about the tailgate to be found cheap. I know of places online but they are either new or expensive. Will keep my eyes out for you.

Thanks, Ryan! I appreciate it. I've got a place over in Evansville, IN (about 45 min from here) that I can check every so often. It's not that I HAVE to have one right now, but it would be nice to have one that isn't beaten to a rusty pulp.
