Turbo for 2.3L

What options are there to turbo a 2.3L and how easy is it to install into a late 80s early 90s probe? What kind of power could I expect with free flowing exhaust, intake, and turbo?

I don't know of any turbo kits for a 2.3, but I have not been looking. I plan on buying a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and swapping out the engine, computer, and wiring harness to put in my Ranger. I don't know how hard it would be to put in a Probe, but the turbocharged 2.3's put out 190hp (manual trans) or 150hp (auto trans) in those cars. The last year of the Mustang SVO had 205hp, however, SVO's are pretty rare, and finding one as a donor is almost impossible. That is why I am looking for the Thunderbirds.

thanks, I was thinking about finding a probe and getting a turbo for it, but I don't know about that now. I can't find much either, accept after market turbos that I would have to do some fab work for it to fit, which I don't have the tools to do right now.

That is why I am looking for the Turbo Coupes, I don't have the skills for fab work, and it would be a drop in since the Ranger already has the 2.3 in it.

A, I have to ask why not just add a stock turbo to the stock probe motor?

B, It'd be no easy task, without serious amounts of work. The F2 that is in the Probes can be built extremly well, or if you're really jonesing for power, you can put a FE3 DOHC motor, which is a direct bolt it.

C, you can swap in a 3.0l Vulcan V6 from a 90-92 Probe LX, which you can even supercharge...

Feel free to ask me any Probe realated questions you can come up with (I have 1x '89LX, 2x '91s GL/GT , 1x'93)

If you're interested in 89-92 Probes at all, I'd recomend you check out performanceprobe.com Fantastic group of people over there. Much friendlier than the people at Probetalk.com...

Google search Probe 2JZ to see a Toyota I6 RWD probe, or check out 9500rpm.net to check out a 351W powered RWD Probe..
