I recently got both my headgaskets replaced along with the addition of a new camshaft and headers. I have had the truck back for about 3 days now, but when I start the truck up, theres this sound of swooshy water coming through the dash, now I assume thats the sound of the coolant circulating in the water jacket ect, but my only concern was i have never heard that noise before prior to the big project. Is this the sound of low coolant in the system, or just air pockets that will eventually bleed themselves out?

 

it is air/coolant mixture in your heater core.
i bet the heater hoses were installed reversed.
there is an inlet and outlet to the heater core, and if the hoses are reversed, sometimes the coolant will not properly fill the core, resulting in the flowing water/gurgling sound you are describing.

 

should that be addressed ASAP? Also, the truck now wont shift past 2nd gear with the help of me assiting manually into 2nd, how do i reset the computer for all the new mods?

 

for the heater hoses, no, it will not hurt anything.
as for reseting the computer, i have no idea, i am a diesel head. sorry.

Park on a hill with the front up so that the rad. cap is the highest point in the cooling system. Start with engine cold and rad. cap off and heater full on. Observe rad. neck while engine warms up. This will burp out trapped air. You will need to add more coolant as the level goes down. Hope this helps.
