Cheap chrome interior trim repair?

OK, the word cheap says a lot about my approach in repairing the cosmetic parts of my truck. Has anybody used chrome tape (not duct tape) for headliner trim, dash trim or maybe even the sun visor mounting plates? Share our ideas and pics if you would like.
I figure since there is little to no contact with these trim pieces it might stay on for a long time and look better than rust/chrome that is on there now.

Do you mean like real duct tape?

I just buff the crap out of everything with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder. Get a little of this on the wheel and buff the parts till they shine. Make a big difference.

no, not 'real duct tape'. I think I seen some by 3M at the auto parts store.
Plus, I don't have a bench grinder or even a garage for that matter. Would be nice though.

well for small surface rust on chrome pieces like the blinker stick and headliner ring, I used a small wire brush and it seems to do fine :/

If chrome is not flaking, get some chrome polish/cleaner and buff the trim out with some elbow grease and some rags, voila! rust is gone, all nice and shiny again

Also, I had some of that tape, I think it was called aluminum tape but it looked like chrome, I think it cost the same as the chrome cleaner I use.
