Manual hub question 99 350 drw

I have a 99 f350 Dually 4x4 and I have one hub on the passenger side that is getting harder and harder to twist in. The drivers side hub is just fine and turns nice and free. Any Ideas?

Is there a way I can take it off and lube it or would I be better off to just change over to the warn premiums?

I removed mine and soaked it with WD-40 for a night. It lasted for a while, then it got to where it puked out the ****.

I went the Mile Marker SS these are nice and easy and 1/4 turn.

They are true manual hubs. I have a floor shift one of the last around I believe.

They should be fairly easy to service. Pull them out and have a look. I think they are held in with a large snap ring that can be removed with needle nose pliers.

Thanks for the help guys. Any ideas what you would soak them in? Maybe wd40- or pb blaster for a while? Or would atf be wise to use? Then let them drain for a while before they go back on.

Any solvent would clean them, just not sure about the need for more grease. Any of the solvents will remove the grease as well. If you want to rid your problems for good, get yourself a set of Warn Premiums for less than $200 and never worry again.

Here's a link to the auto hub repair. http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/allube.html
I searched and could'nt find much info on manual hub repair. What I did find was to spray hub with cleaner such as PB Blaster then lightly lube. You can take them apart for better cleaning but I couldn't find any good instructions on that repair. You may need to soak with cleaner and tap the hub with a rubber mallet to get it off. Good luck and post your finding back.

Where do you find these new warn premiums for under 200 bucks? I will try that those repair items tomorrow in the light and get back to you guys to see what I can figure out until I can get my hands on the new warn premiums. Gotta get up the mountain to ride sleds while the snow is so deep.

I just serviced my manual hubs they are very easy to do,once the hub is removed there is a retaining ring that needs to be removed once thats removed everthing will come out just be careful because there is a spring inside and pieces can go flying then you will have to figure out how to put it back together.don't over grease anything or the hubs will stick.

Warn premiums or nothing....LOL If you can get the sock hubs to come out. Thats if they are corroded.

Why does Ford still have hubs? So you aren't always rotating the entire axle assembly.

There are kits to give the Dodge manual locking hubs.....they give them better MPG (since the wheels can free spin) and decreases the wear and tear on front end components.

I don't know how the Dodge 4x4 system operates.

But, on the Ford if you have a shift on the fly system, you turn the know and a vacuum locks the hubs in right away (assuming everything is working properly).
