Crawled around under the truck today. (56K Stay Away)

Found quite a few things that need attention.

But first, the under hood!

Now all the bad.

I found a bunch more crap too.

Looks like you need an oil pan gasket, maybe pan as well. Those tie rod ends look as if they were over greased and coming out of the seals. Maybe just some new seals if there's not much play in them.
The body bushing's not a real issue unless it is loose and moving around.
What does the rest of the truck look like? All those things can be fixed by a DIYer.

From what I can see fix oil pan by sanding it and repainting it. Is the Pass. side valve cover leaking? Dryier for the a/c rusting up and why is there a zip tie on the air intake/Upper radiator hose?

When I bought my Bronco it had a similar "fix" for an upper hose that would have rubbed on the serp. I replaced it with whatever the guy at autozone handed me and that one was the correct shape. Either people are just slapping on whatever hose they can find or some shop/chain out there is giving people the wrong hose.

The lower rad hose was almost worn through from rubbing on the power steering pump and the replacement I got clears the pump with .25" to spare.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the zip tie is there to hold that upper radiator house of the way.

Oil pan gasket, how hard is it? A friend of mine mentioned having to drop the pan and oil pump at the same time?

As for the tie rod ends, I think I'm gonna blast them off and take a better look at them.

Body bushing just bugged me haha. I hate cracked rubber.

I'm pretty sure the PS valve cover is leaking.

I pulled codes 41 and 33 the other day, Insufficient EGR Valve Flow and an O2 sensor.

Anybody ever used a universal O2 sensor? Mine is a 4 wire.

The replacement Bosch O2 sensors (Ford used the Bosch as OEM) for these trucks can be purchased from Advance Auto or Autozone for $40 or so. Just did mine. Had to use heat to break the old one free from the crosspipe.

the pan gasket can be changed without pulling the pan completely off
just jack up the engine drop the pan and snake a new gasket
around the bottom of the engine
cleaning the old gasket is tough
if you want to change the oil pump then it gets more complicated
get a strong degreaser and a high pressure washer to clean everything first
as said before go with the bosch hego's

Fan shroud is broke or missing, can't tell. It also serves the purpose of keeping the upper hose out of the fan.

Most of the grease on the front diff is probably from past oil filter changes where the oil wasn't cleaned off.

Mine and most others I've worked on have been fine... Is the hose turned at the correct angle on the thermostat housing and radiator?

As for the insufficient EGR flow, I would check for a vacuum leak, probably at the coffee can vacuum resevoir.

So there are two O2 sensors? Sweet.

I think I'll just pull the whole pan off to put in a new gasket so I get a good clean seal. Is it a good idea to change the oil pump? If so, how hard is it?

I'll be needing a new fan shroud because that damn zip tie bugs me.

I guess I should just replace all the vacumn hoses. It would probably be easiest. Where are the common cracked ones?

At least I DO have a new alternator haha.

It's been running rough the last two days but I beleive it's from de-greasing and pressure washing the engine yesterday. Today it ran fine all morning then after work I sprayed it down with degreaser again before driving home and it ran horrible. Low end power was disgusting.

So far here's the list of parts:
New vacumn lines.
Plugs.
Wires.
Rotor.
Cap.
Air filter.
Oil Filter/oil change.
Fuel filters(s)
Possibly an EGR valve.
Serp belt.
All front end bushings.
Wheel bearings.
Tire rod ends.
O2 Sensor(s)
And possibly a fuel pump.
Also a new PS window switch control.

Anything else I should replace while I'm at it?
