Yet 1 more head question!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Jan-02 AT 02:03 AM (EST)]I have a 77 460 out of a Lincoln Mark V in my 77 F150. My question is I know that my motor has the D3VE Heads on it. I also have a set of D0VE heads that I was thinking about installing. My question is, are the valves bigger in the D0VE heads? I know that they have a smaller cc cumbustion chamber in them, but with my stock pisions, what would the compression ratio be? I know that the old ones were around 11:1 but I think that they had different pistons. I don't want to go to high, gas prices are to unpredictable. I run 87 octane now and i wouldn't mind running 89 if needed with the other heads, but at 8MPG I can't really afford to run 93 octane on my daily driver!! :-staun

Valves I'm sure are the same size.
The DOVE Heads supposedly Breathed better.
You're right about the compression Ration changing because of the pistons.
ONE valve relief compared with TWO valve reliefs.
ONE Having More Compression.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Jan-02 AT 11:54 PM (EST)]lxman1, The intake and exhaust valves are the same size on both heads. The early 75.8 CC volume DOVE heads installed on your 77 block would get you a compression ratio of 9.3 according to the Tom Monroe book.
